The wines of Stella Viola di Campalto achieve a sense of gracefulness, beauty and verve many seek to convey but few are able to succeed. Perhaps its the bones of the estate, the historic Podere San Giuseppe with roots prior to WWI, or maybe it's Stella's certified organic and biodynamic practices which bring forth such show-stopping qualities of the grapes. At least part of it is thanks to Stella, a female working in a male-dominated region and industry, whose insistence on customizing each of the estate's handling and vinification of their nine vineyards depending on the vintage has reaped innumerable benefits. While many Rosso di Montalcino bottlings from her neighbors are the run-off from Brunello vineyards that didn't make the cut, Stella's Rosso is intentional with sourcing from some of the higher elevation and west-facing vineyards.
