Towards the turn of the 21st century, Val di Suga made several improvements, most namely of which included the purchase of Poggio al Granchio, an ideal vineyard site abundant in schist-rich galestro soils to the southeast of the town of Montalcino. Val di Suga's Brunello di Montalcino is unique in that it is comprised of Sangiovese grown on three of Montalcino's different slopes each with their own soil type.
