Many reasons contributed to this but it was not for lack of distinctive terroirs capable of producing captivating, unique wines. In the 1960's the Campanian landscape for winegrowers was shifting towards International grape varietals as they were desperate to sell anything. Fortunately, the story of Campania's historic grape varietals and legendary vineyard locations sitting in the foothills of the mighty Apennine mountains not too distant from the Mediterranean, was saved thanks in large part to the Mastroberardino family. Leading the family's charge was Antonio, ninth generation winemaker, who boldly stuck with the native Campanian grapes Aglianico, Fiano and Greco di Tufo. His perseverance paid off as vineyard acreage for these noble varietals continues to climb each year and more and more world class expressions of each reach the market. The Irpinia Aglianico comes from the family's tenth generation vintner, Piero Antinori, and is a structured, age-worthy style of wine possessing a classic Italian sense of herbs, spice, floral notes. Typically, Aglianico was too austere for early consumption but the Mastroberardino's intend this cuvée to have more youthful approachability by vinifing in stainless steel limiting their traditional long maceration periods.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"NY Armando Noriega","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":48901929107673,"sku":"48901929107673-NY","price":64.95,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0420\/3538\/0379\/files\/StockPhoto_337b532d-0e20-4c37-9201-d38a7bd5e38f.webp?v=1783380392","url":"https:\/\/nysommcellars.com\/products\/2010-mastroberardino-aglianico-radici-campania","provider":"Somm Cellars","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
